HEY! I’M ROB. I LIKE TO THINK I’M AN ANGLER, BUT MY KIDS THINK I’M A DANGLER.
I like to fish (which doesn’t always mean I catch). Generally I’ll fish for anything. Whether, it’s fly fishing for trout, coarse fishing for species such as roach, perch, bream and rudd or even fishing for specimen carp, the chances are I’ve tried it.
I grew up in the rural Lincolnshire countryside, with a Grandfather who was possibly more hooked on fishing than I am.
My earliest fishing experience happened when I was about 8, catching a small gudgeon from the River Ancholme. By 10yrs old my Grandad had me casting a fly rod on his back lawn. Many happy fishing trips and memories were made in the next few years.
A stint at University in Manchester studying for a degree I’m still yet to use put fishing on the back burner for a few years but the interest lay dormant.
My first job gave me some disposable income and my first house followed shortly afterwards. Watching fishing shows on cable TV stirred my interest in angling and I set up with new gear again.
Fast forward 15 years and I’m as hooked on fishing now as I ever was as a kid, but this time I can take my own kids a long.
These days, I’m a dad of 2 boys (who still arent fully convinced of the angling persuasion), Husband, IT guy and YouTuber.
